And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. (Daniel 7:25)
And do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, so that you may approve what is the good and well-pleasing and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2 LEB)
And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:7-8)
With each passing day, the world is sinking deeper into the abyss of the spirit of Antichrist. The enemy has brought us to the point to where “if it were possible even the very elect will be deceived.” It is no longer a figure of speech. Behind us are the days when it was a novel topic to preach on or write a best-selling book about. The time is at hand. That age is upon us. Even believers who regard themselves as spiritual and biblically educated are slowly being indoctrinated with lawlessness and political correctness. They are losing their cutting edge and don’t even know it. In fact, I have been saying for a number of years now that many Christians can no longer tell the difference between the love of Christ and political correctness (PC). This is the consequence of drinking at the world’s wells and feeding at its troughs. Many professing Christians employ no filter to stop the world’s God-hating propaganda from penetrating their mind and heart. They are slowly falling into the ranks and will eventually walk lock-step with the world. This is a sobering thing to consider.
Following the Piper
In these dreadful days, the Saints must hold their ground as lights in a darkened world. By “Saints,” I mean the elect (regenerate); those who have truly been born again by the Spirit (emphasis on “truly”). Nominal Christians are being exposed every day for what they are. By “world” I mean this present world system and the people of this present evil age — deluded and under the influence of the spirit of Antichrist. Indeed, there is a spirit that now works feverishly in the children of disobedience. We gain insight of this spirit from Daniel 7:25. That spirit is seeking to speak great words against the Most High God, wear out the Saints of the Most High God, and change times and laws that have been set in place by the Most High God. For decades the enemy has been working in Godless people to normalize even the most dastardly sins. There are things going on today that would have vexed the average sinner 50 years ago more than they vex professing Christians today. Let that sink in.
The real Saints are vexed (worn down and tormented) from day to day with the unlawful deeds of the world around us. If Lot was vexed daily when he lived in Sodom, how ought the Saints to relate to our times? Indeed, there are dear saints suffering unspeakable persecutions in countries around the world. Every day the enemy has their faith at the point of a gun or a machete. Between real persecution in the East (and other non-Western areas) and the daily vexation of high-handed sin in the West, the Saints are in danger of being worn out. As with the widow in Luke 18, the Saints cry out one way or another for relief. It would seem that the unjust judge and the Lord delay in answering; the unjust judge out of indifference, the Lord out of long-suffering and compassion for the lost.
Will He Find Faith?
Faith is right response to God and His word. How can anyone have faith who does not agree with God? Once their mind has been conformed to this present evil world it is a carnal mind. A carnal mind is at enmity with God. Whatever they have at that point it cannot be properly called “faith.” The world responds to this reality by twisting the meaning of words or relegating God’s word to a nonauthoritative and meaninglessness old book that everyone is free to interpret as they choose. People go on identifying themselves as Christians but they don’t agree with God on anything except love and grace. How can this be? It would have been impossible in any generation but ours. In modern times people want their salvation and their sin too.
Each day we wake up to another round of madness coming from all directions in this present evil world. What is worse is that Christians entertain themselves with the propaganda of this world. If it’s packaged well enough they will partake of it and come under its effects unawares. Many are under the delusion that they cannot be influenced or deluded by what they see. Satan knows that most people don’t do their research so he feeds them whatever he wants them to believe. He turns good people into savages and savages into saints in the eyes of the undiscerning. He makes sin make sense. Why do you think John the Baptist lived outside the city leading up to his ministry? He didn’t want to be under its influence. What about today? Could that be why there are so few “John the Baptist’s” or why the “John the Baptist” types are shunned by professing Christians? I suggest one too many hours in front of the tube.
Short of a revival unlike has been witnessed since Pentecost, the world is on the fast track to total perdition. The thoughts and imaginations of many are becoming only evil continually. Nevertheless, the Lord Jesus asked, And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” Here are two questions. Will God avenge His elect? Answer: absolutely. Will the Son of Man really find faith on the earth? No answer. We are left to think about the implications of the question so as to fortify ourselves in our own faith. I get the impression that the answer is up-in-the-air. Will He find faith? It’s up to you and me.
