This website was created to be a resource center for people who wish to understand Christianity as it existed in the beginning and how that reality can be experienced in this present evil world. I’m your host, Robert Wurtz II, and I warmly invite you to look around and be blessed by edifying and encouraging resources. As a note, the blog entries have been copied over from my Blogger platform for easier access and better readability.

The website name “The Girded Mind” carries over from my Blogger blog by the same name. It is derived from the words of Peter who stated, “Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 1:13 NKJV). The Greek verb translated as “gird up” is anazonnumi where it is applied to the mind being in a constant preparation. It is taken from the custom of the eastern nations who, when they were walking or running would bind up their long garments with a girdle or belt around the hips. The Christian’s mind must always be ready for whatever challenge presents itself in opposition.
