Plunging into Darkness

The blasphemy and wickedness on display at the 2024 Olympics opening ceremony was a shock to many but not to God or history. Fashion and artistic expression are the cover terms for this latest abomination. Yet, from eternity past, God was fully aware of the depraved evil that would seize our generation.

Heaven Has The Rule

God taught Nebuchadnezzar an important lesson. I sometimes say that "there is a generation that doesn't learn by lecture, illustration or revelation; but by destruction and devastation." Destruction deals with loss; devastation deals with the emotional response to that loss. Nebuchadnezzar learned the hard way that God is in control of the kingdoms of this world.

The spirit of a Pharisee

The Pharisees simply didn't care about God's will. It was all a put-on. Jesus likens their attitude to someone fishing around in their drink to pull out a little gnat that fell in, then turning around and swallowing a camel. Both gnats (Leviticus 11:23, 41) and camels (Leviticus 11:4) were unclean and not to be eaten.

The Stolen Waters

The devil’s propaganda says that, “stolen waters are sweet.” This is a way of saying that things that are forbidden are inviting. When a person takes something that doesn’t belong to them, especially if it is someone else’s spouse, they are acting up upon this deception. They are allured by the excitement of doing something wrong. The greater the wrong, the greater the sweetness says this outlook. The world might express it by saying they get a rush when they commit certain sins.
