An Evil Eye

“An evil eye” is a Hebrew idiom from the Old Testament. Jesus warned that if a person has an evil eye it is evidence that they are filled with great darkness. In this article we explore the meaning of an evil eye.

The Good Portion

Do our priorities make sense in light of eternity? Are they earth bound or Heavenly? The story of Martha and Mary is insightful because it illustrates how misplaced priorities can rob a person from what’s vitally needed.

The Spirit of Jehoiakim

Unjust gain is a serious sin and we are warned in scripture not to defraud others of their wages, property, or possessions. The enemy lies to people or tells them partial truths to gain consent; Christians must never use such callous deception to grow their or their employers wealth.

Jezebel

Jezebel was a notorious woman in the Old Testament commonly known for being a usurper. She killed many prophets and seemed to get by with whatever she did. Unfortunately, Elijah didn’t live to see the judgment that God would bring upon her. He ran from her and hid in a cave. Jezebel brings enormous discouragement because it seems as though these types get by with whatever they do, and God never judges them, but he will eventually judge them.

The Right Response to Rampant Sin

Sexual immorality is a damnable sin, which means that if you continue in it, you will not inherit the kingdom of God. No one is exempt from this. Not our children or anyone else’s children. Gos is no respect of persons and he expects people to repent.

The Spirit of Lot

Lot was a just man, but there was something about him that caused him to hang around in a city that was one of the most wicked in world history. He was even carried off one time by the enemy as spoils of war and God had to send Abraham to save him. Why stay? Why keep putting yourself through all of this? Eventually, God had to send an angel to practically drag him out as he was about to rain judgment down on them.

A House of Spirits

God designed humankind to be a temple for him to dwell in. However, when Adam sinned in the garden of Eden, he opened the door to other spirits coming in and inhabiting humankind as well. We are born with the spirit of disobedience working in us (Ephesians 2:1f) and if we open the door to the enemy, we may become demon possessed. When we turn to Christ and repentance, God will set us free from any demonic stronghold that may exist in our life, but our temple must be filled with the Holy Spirit or we risk coming under a worse form of possession than before.

And if the men should drive them hard one day, all the flock will die."  (Genesis 33:13 NKJV)   Genesis is a... Continue Reading →
