The New gods On the Block?

The New gods On the Block?
Robert Wurtz II

Then the Angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said: “I led you up from Egypt and brought you to the land of which I swore to your fathers; and I said, ‘I will never break My covenant with you. And you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall tear down their altars.’ But you have not obeyed My voice. Why have you done this? Therefore I also said, “I will not drive them out before you; but they shall be thorns in your side, and their gods shall be a snare to you.’ ” (Judges 2:1-3)

Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. (1 Corinthians 10:11)

There arose another generation that knew not the Lord. The pattern is ancient and perpetual. One generation refuses to tear down the altars of the land and the next generation worships at them. At first, it’s a dastardly mixture. The people, riding the fence of compromise, try to worship the One True God after the ways of the pagans and infidels. Eventually they drop the One True God and get about their real intention of worshipping the gods of the land. The consequence? But you have not obeyed My voice. Why have you done this? Therefore I also said, “I will not drive them out before you; but they shall be thorns in your side, and their gods shall be a snare to you.”

Understand that pagans who dance around their fires and beat their tribal drums are feeling after God. This is the implication of what Paul said in Acts 17:27. Though they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, but became vain in their imaginations and their foolish hearts were darkened. They raised their kids in madness and left them to feel after God. The grotesque sacrifices; their horrid, demon inspired music; are all measures employed to conjure something up. In fact, many of these diabolic rituals are meant to call up demon spirits. Sadly, but not surprisingly, these rituals are not confined to the jungles of South America and Africa; but are rife in the Western world as well.

I wonder what the pagans of the old testament and those in South America would give to put on a show like this one? Dancing around — raising cain — lights flashing, drums pounding, music blaring and the people worked into a frenzy. These are the types of things that God commanded Israel to tear down. This is what God is referring to when He says, What communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. come our from among them and be separate says the Lord and touch not the unclean thing and I will receive you And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. (2 Corinthians 6:14-18)

Defenders of these type things are agents of the Devil. Mark them. Have no fellowship with them! Give no place to them or the Devil they serve. They are your sworn enemy. The implication of 2 Corinthians 6:14-28 is that our sonship is dependent upon our willingness to forsake Satan, his inspired darkness, his idols, and everything unclean (not of God).

The secondary consequence of refusing to tear down the altars of the gods of this present evil world is that God will not go before us. This is what God said in Judges chapter 2 and it was written for our instruction and warning. That is the primary lesson here. Rather than pulling down strongholds, we will sit powerless and impotent. All the while a generation is as blind as a cave bat — thinking they are pleasing God and He is blessing the works of their hands. Again, it happened over and over in Israel and it still goes on today. It’s a measure that has always worked for Satan; why should he change it?

One of the saddest and pitiful things in Christendom today is that professed Christians will laud holiness, righteousness, separation from the world — even making their motto Romans 12:1-2; but cannot see that they are expressing their faith as would the pagans serve the gods of the land. They are blind to it and are typically unopened to criticism about it. They are too blind and obstinate to see the connection.

Imagine dancing around banging drums, flashing lights, piercingly loud music and shouting… “HOLY…HOLY….HOLY.” It’s like the people are worshiping Jehovah and Molech at the same time! Molech was worshipped by placing babies in the red-hot arms of a metal statue. Singers and musicians would beat drums to DROWN THE SCREAMS. Today, we have our own “Tophets.” The sacrifice is our children! I have been in meetings that were so loud you could not hear yourself think — much less feel conviction of sin. What is it? It is Belial running the show. Did I need to tell you that? Of course I didn’t. You already knew that. What did God say? What communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Will God long tolerate these things? Certainly He didn’t in Israel. What did He say?

Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be called Tophet, nor the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter: for they shall bury in Tophet, till there be no place. (Jeremiah 7:32)

An Attitude to Go With It!

Once the people get mixed up in these things and another generation comes along that does not know God (though they believe they do), a showdown is in the making. In fact, it happened in Israel. The old time Prophets who could hear from God were still hearing; while a whole generation of people “thought” they were hearing, but were actually being taught of devils. They were so deceived, that they actually believed that they could compromise their sanctification and identity and still hear from God. Wow! As if they were ignorant of the fact that the Prophets were God’s prosecuting attorneys (as it were); demanding that the people return to the Covenant. Because they misunderstood the primary function of a Prophet — they were ripe for deception. We see this in 1 Kings 22-23. Like today, there is a majority that is in the lap of Satan and this present evil world. Nevertheless, all they seem to hear is love, love, love… grace, grace, grace and peace, peace, peace. They forget that these benefits have an address. God is calling sinners to repentance. Nevertheless, what is the word of the false prophets?

Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good. (1 Kings 22:13)

Understand that the sins that God was judging in Israel wouldn’t even be the dust off of some of the stuff going on in 2014. Are you kidding? We have flagrant homosexuality being ordained to ministry! Ministry cards are being passed out as a benefit of passing a written exam. Satan could pass these exams. What’s more? Is there a man of God in the house? Is there a woman of God in the house? Is there a word from the Lord? Indeed there was… and is…

And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace. (I Kings 22:17)

This is God’s estimate of a bad shepherd. In His eyes… they have no shepherd. Nevertheless, how did the compromisers respond to this word?

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil?  And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left. And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner. And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him. And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. (1 Kings 22:18-22)

God was sending the King strong delusion by allowing a lying spirit to speak through the mouths of these false, compromising prophets. They were real inventive though! You have to hand it to them. They would probably fool 99.999% of the people. They even made a prop of horns to demonstrate how the battle would play out. Sounded convincing! It was a great PR campaign. The people were ready to charge hells gates… almost. Except, in a moment of sanity and sobriety the King decided it best to get a second opinion. That is to say, these false prophets were the one voice; they were the voice of lies and deceit. Micaiah was the man of God: the voice of truth. How did they respond to him? Did they welcome truth with open arms?

Now Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, “Which way did the spirit from the LORD go from me to speak to you?” (1 Kings 22:24)

If he had been inspired by the Spirit of the Lord, he would not have thought it necessary to try and give effect to his words by rude force, but he would have left the defence of his cause quietly to the Lord, as Miciah did. (K&D) This is the arrogance of deception. This is the pride of those who would compromise the things of God and then have the wherewithall to challenge the genuine. Nevertheless, what did God say?

And Micaiah said, “Indeed, you shall see on that day when you go into an inner chamber to hide!” (1 Kings 22:25)

The new gods on the block and their prophets were headed for a fearful finality. It is sure to have happened just as the Prophet said. the finality of compromise and the deception it brings is fear and final defeat. What made this man believe he could compromise the things of God and still be in His favor? It is a sobering commentary on our times. Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. (1 Corinthians 10:11)
